Car salesman: Well, we're basically giving you an Accord for the price of a Civic. But we'll see if we can squeeze out a few more drops of blood.
Dad: You have a lot more blood than we do.
Car salesman: It's only 30 more dollars a month! That's not that much. That's one dollar a day.
Dad: I know how much it is. If it's only a dollar a day, why can't you pay it for me?
Mechanic: Well, if it's the water pump, then you're done.
(A few second of silence pass.)
Me: Done? Like, me? As a person?
Mechanic: No, no. I mean the car, the car will be done.

The Secret of the Ooze
March 6, 2008
Me: Thanks for the help. I'm not usually the type of person who goes up to strangers' car windows and asks for directions.
Car Guy's Friend: You should get a [murmur].
Me: I'm sorry?
Car Guy's Friend: A gar-[murmur].
Me: A garment?
Car Guy's Friend: A garm-[murmur].
Me: Oh. OK.
Car Guy's Friend: A Garmin. It's GPS for your car.
Me: Oh. Nah, I'm poor. That's my car right there.
Car Guy's Friend: Which one?
Me: Right there.
(Both Car Guy and Car Guy's Friend lean forward in their chairs and crane their necks to look in silence for a few seconds.)
Car Guy's Friend: Oh.

Twilight
I’ve been watching lots of kids’ movies and reading young adult books lately — even the really crappy ones.
Twilight was pretty bad. Even the special effects were really bad. But it still doesn’t really phase me how popular it is even though it sucks so much. Nowadays, I rarely even expect a correlation between the quality of a product and its sales.
I found this tidbit...
Windshields
I don’t know anything about cars. I feel the same way about cars as I do about a lot of things. It amazes me that our society can depend so much on things about which the majority of humans know nothing about. Like the media. Or computers. Or cars.
If there’s ever some sort of big catastrophe and only a small group of people survive, I hope for their sake that those people know about...

Hmm.
I’m unsure of how to blog. Do I blog about my life? Or my writing? Or music I like? Or just random thoughts? Not that it matters. I can blog however and about whatever I please. It’s just that I realized that I’ve become so accustomed to blogging that I had to stop to remember how strange it is. If I want to share things with people online, I can make a website for that purpose....

Belief - "Let It Breathe" - Free Mixtape →
I love mixtapes, and this one is exceptionally good. Belief is easily one of the most talented and underrated producers in the game, and my copy of his album Dedication has seen a lot of play. This free mixtape shows him mixing some of his unreleased material with classic joints from Blockhead, Oh No and the Beastie Boys. Ridiculous.
Z-Trip is also offering his Obama mix for free on his page....

How Cute: Evidence that My Mom Is Computer...
After I set up the wireless network:
Mom: "Does this mean I can watch Korean channels on the TV now?"
After I signed her up for the Do Not Call registry:
Mom: "Does this mean I won't get weird e-mails anymore?"
After I set up the spam blocker on her e-mail account:
Mom: "People in Africa must sit around all day and e-mail me, trying to steal my identity."
Marietta Musings
I don’t know much about Marietta, and I haven’t lived here very long, but I like to think that noting what businesses are the most prevalent here can be an indication of the lifestyles that Mariettans pursue.
1. $20 emissions. What does this even mean? Why don’t these places ever seem to have business? Why are they always $20? What exactly do they emit? Is there some sort of...
